Happening This Week #3: LA's First Court Case
The Legal Affairs Team organized a court case against Ja-ck on May 24, 2018! He applied for an appeal on his fire on sexual harassment. It was a nerve-wracking and emotional time for some of the FIB family to participate in. We interviewed the two judges and the victim of the court case which were Gian, Sarah-, and Mirsa!
How did you feel during the case?
Gian: My performance there was bad thanks to puffin.
Sarah-: I feel the case went smoothly, for our first run we didn't hit any bumps, so that’s a plus! If you would like to watch the case, please follow the link below! We had a great turn out, and for the next case we hope to see as many people as we did for this one! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XzIb-IKNW04
Mirsa: Full honesty, from start to finish I was scared. I was watching the guy (Ja-ck) do something that can cause issues in many ways, but the fact that he took it so lightly realizing later can be a scary thought in itself. I almost cried when I saw that someone who did such things could get a 2nd chance.
Do you think that the decision made was good?
Gian: Not sure really, some are still strongly against our decision. Though I'm hoping that it'll be gone sooner or later.
Sarah-: Time will tell if this decision was the best way to handle the situation. As a panel, we voted on his verdict, and this is what we came up with.
Mirsa: Yes, although it may not be the easiest pill to swallow, but it shines the light that anyone can get a forum to defend themselves and get out of it no matter how much evidence and accusations have been thrown at you.
Do you think Jack will follow the prediction you gave him?
Gian: Why, of course. We decided to put him in a dire situation where anytime he could be dismissed by LA if he decided to break the conditions given. That way, he'll completely learn a lesson of what will be the consequences of sexually harassing someone. We hope that none of this kind of cases will happen in the future.
Sarah-: We can hope that he follows the guidelines so he can become a full member back with us soon! But yes, if any disciplinary action has to be taken, he will be immediately let go.
Mirsa: If anyone who tries so desperately to get their job back, then yes, he would.
Here's the video of the trial! Enjoy!
