Battle

(Thank you Lily for the graphics!)

If I never see your face again

I'll wear your name on my lips

As a whisper of lost innocence

And the freedom of forgetting it.

As the walls crashed in,

And we began to break–

Dream myself out of that day

When the sirens stopped,

As the silence grows;

When the sun burned out

And I was the last to know.

And I felt it there before you left

Torn up, tied down and gasping for breath–

Th quiet sound of your regret;

That I'm the space between your happiness,

The bitter taste inside your loneliness.

And as my armor cracked

In the space between

I pulled you closer

Tangled in old ecstasy

And ask myself

Who you think you're fooling,

And all along it was me–

The one who cries for the one who leaves.
